Yiwen Liu (b.1999) is a London based artist who graduated from Central Saint Martins and is currently pursuing MA at the Royal College of Art. Yiwen’s work explores different materials and approaches. She thinks of her work as celebrations of fleeting moments and thinking, whether in people or nature. She encapsulates them into petite vessels, beckoning the audience to partake in those ephemeral.
Her recent work ”Once Belong to the Same Forest” is composed of two branches sourced from a single tree. “While engaging with organic elements, I uncovered that nature’s decay manifests as both a diminishing and a magnification. The enigmatic allure of the unpredictable transformations that unfold during this decay process deeply resonated with me. Consequently, I infused these sentiments into the creative journey, as though embracing the tree and the forest it was once an integral part of.”
